Jul. 21, 2010
VIENNA, Virginia, July 21, 2010 – ABC News reports based on a pair of polls in Afghanistan and Iraq by D3 Systems and its affiliates were nominated last week for an Emmy award for outstanding continuing coverage of a news story.
Research for the Afghan poll was conducted by D3 Systems’ subsidiary ACSOR Surveys. Research for the Iraq poll was conducted by D3 Systems with its partner KA Research Limited.
The reports aired in February and March 2009 on ABC’s World News Tonight and Good Morning America Weekend as part of the network’s ongoing “Where Things Stand” series, supported by detailed, in-person, random-sample surveys of more than 1,500 adults in Afghanistan and 2,200 in Iraq.
The nomination follows a long string of awards given to ABC News for work supported by D3 Systems. These have included a previous Emmy award, the Policy Impact Award from the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), the University of Iowa/Gallup Award for Excellent Journalism Using Polls and the 2005 National Council on Public Polls Excellence in Media Coverage of Polls Award.
